1. What is S.E.T.?

S.E.T. stands for Somerset Essential Tool Rentals — a local, affordable tool hire service for domestic DIY and gardening needs.

2. Who can hire tools?

Anyone over 18 with valid photo ID can hire from us. First-time customers must provide ID and a security deposit.

3. How much does it cost?

Hire starts from just £2 per item, per day. Prices vary depending on the tool.

4. How do I book?

Complete our short quote request form (via Google or our Facebook page), call us or message us directly for availability.

5. Where do I collect from?

All collections and returns are from a private residential address in Shepton Mallet. Full details are shared upon booking.

6. What’s included with each hire?

Each tool is cleaned, function-tested, PAT tested where required and one consumables item included such as saw blade or drill bit. (Extras are available to purchase if needed)

7. Are tools insured?

We operate under a public liability policy and tools are maintained, PAT tested and safety-checked. Customers are responsible for safe use and return.

8. Do you sell anything?

Yes! A selection of consumables (e.g. sanding pads, screws, gloves) is available to purchase at collection.

9. What happens if a tool is damaged or not returned?

A damages and loss policy is in place. Security deposits may be withheld if tools are returned broken due to misuse or not returned at all.

10. Can I hire tools while you're on holiday or unavailable?

Where possible, we’ll arrange alternative collection times or temporary cover. Please enquire in advance.
